About Us - Penobscot and Ferry Transport

Penobscot Ferry and Transport is a small, family run ferry service that tries to fill a niche that the Maine State Ferry Service does not fill. We offer transportation to any island in the bay that has a pier to tie up at. We will transport passengers and light cargo loads to your dock of choice. The boat is equipped with a mast and boom system to aid in offloading cargo. We offer a relatively flexible schedule, unlike the Maine State Ferry Service. Also, we are usually capable of operating when the airplanes cannot fly due to fog or other weather conditions.

The Captain
	Captain Jim Kalloch is a 30 year Navy veteran. He returned home to Rockland and started his second career as a captain of a vessel that serves all of the islands in Penobscot Bay.He is Coast Guard licensed and is in the random drug testing pool required by federal law.	a new window will appear
The Vessel

The M .V. Jackie Renee is a 38 ft Young Brothers (lobster boat style hull) with enclosed comfortable seating for 12 persons and outside seating for 14 persons, with plentiful cargo space. Captain Kalloch chose a 38 ft boat for just that purpose: space and safety. Our vessel meets and exceeds all U.S. Coast Guard safety regulations and is licensed to carry 20 passengers plus captain. We have state of the art electronics that enables us to travel any time of day regardless of most weather. We promise warmth and comfort on your journey.
